Buttermilk Pound Cake
Buttermilk Pound Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. shortening, 3 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 c. buttermilk and 3 c. plain flour, sifted, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Cream shortening, sugar and salt.
Stir in egg yolks 1 at a time.
Alternate with buttermilk, flour and soda in water.
Beat until smooth.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour into greased and floured tube pan.
Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes at 350Β°. Cool 10 minutes.
Run knife to loosen.
Wonderful for strawberry shortcake.
