Buttermilk Biscuits

Add dry ingredients to mixer bowl.
Whisk to blend.
Cut cold shortening and butter into small pieces and add to bowl.
Mix on stir for 1 minute until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Continue on stir while adding the 3/4 cup of cold buttermilk.
Mix just until moistened.
Form dough into a ball and turn out onto lightly floured board.
Knead 5 to 6 times and roll out to 1/2-inch thick.
Cut into 2 inch rounds.
Arrange biscuits on greased baking pan.
Brush with 1 tablespoon buttermilk.
Bake at 450Β° for 15 minutes.
