Cream butter, add sugar gradually. until fluffy.
Add unbeaten egg and vanilla; beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients.

Cut with floured cookie cutter.
Bake on unbuttered cookie sheet about 6 minutes at 400Β°. Cool on rack.
