Brown Paper Bag Pie
Brown Paper Bag Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 large apples, pared, cored and cut into slices, 1/2 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. flour (a little more if apples are juicy), 1/2 tsp. nutmeg and 1 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Combine all ingredients (except apples, pie shell and lemon juice) to coat apples.
Put apples into pie shell and drizzle lemon juice over them.
Sprinkle topping over apples, then slice into a heavy brown paper shopping bag (bag must not touch the top of the pie).
Double fold the end of the bag and fasten with paper clips. Place on cookie sheet.
Bake at 425Β° for 1 hour.
Split bag open immediately.
This is a great way to save your oven from pie spills.
