Cut lard in half.
Using one half in a large bowl, cut it up in small pieces.
Store the remaining half in refrigerator.
Pour boiling water over the lard and stir until mixture is a creamy mass.
Add salt and sugar.
Sift flour with baking powder and stir into the mixture.
Mix well with 2 knives in a crosscutting motion until completely blended.
Roll mass into 1 large ball.
Wrap in wax paper and put in the refrigerator to cool. Cut ball in half.
Make 9-inch pie crust (2-crust pie). Refrigerate other half.
This will keep 1 week or more.
