Bread in a Jar
Bread In A Jar is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. shortening, not melted, 1 2/3 c. sugar, 4 eggs, 2 c. mashed bananas or shredded apples or carrots and 2/3 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs, bananas or your flavor and water.
In another bowl, sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and spices.
Add mixtures together and mix well. Add nuts. Pour mixture into jars filling half full. Place jars on cookie sheet in oven and bake at 325Β° for 45 minutes.
When bread is done remove jars one at a time and whip off edges and seal with lids tightly.
The heat will seal the jars and the bread will keep for 1 year.
If you like, you can use self rising flour and leave out baking powder, soda, and salt.
