Bread and Butter Pickles
Bread And Butter Pickles is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 gal. firm small cucumbers, 2 seeded green peppers, 8 small white onions, peeled and sliced, 1 qt. crushed ice and 1/2 c. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Place cucumbers (sliced), green peppers, ice and onions in layers in a crock with salt.
Cover and place in refrigerator overnight or 6 hours.
Drain.
Make a syrup of vinegar, sugar and spices.
Add these to cucumbers.
Heat slowly with very little stirring.
Scald, do not boil.
Place pickles in sterilized jars and seal at once.
