Combine cucumbers, onions, garlic and salt in large stockpot.
Cover with cracked ice (about 2-inches).
Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours.
Drain mixture well.
In same stockpot combine sugar, vinegar, mustard seed, turmeric, and celery seed.
Heat to a rolling boil for 2 minutes.
Add cucumber mixture.
Return to boiling.
