Bohemian Nut Slices
Bohemian Nut Slices is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 envelope dry yeast, 1/4 c. sugar, 2 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. salt and 3/4 c. butter or oleo, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
Sprinkle yeast over warm water.
Add 1 teaspoon sugar.
Let stand 10 minutes or until yeast is raised.
Sift flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Blend in egg yolks and yeast.
Mix until a smooth ball is formed.
Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry.
Gradually beat in the 1/2 cup sugar until stiff and vanilla.
Divide dough in half.
Roll out each half on a lightly floured board.
Spread with egg white mixture and sprinkle with nuts.
Roll up like a jelly roll.
Place on a greased cookie sheet. Make 1/2 inch cut down middle.
Bake immediately at 375Β° for 22 minutes. When warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut.
