Biscuits
Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. yeast, 5 c. flour, 1 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tbsp. sugar and 2 c. buttermilk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Dissolve yeast in water.
Combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt and sugar.
Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse meal. Stir in yeast and buttermilk.
Mix well and turn onto floured surface.
Knead 1 to 2 minutes.
Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut out.
Place on lightly greased sheet.
Brush with melted butter. Bake at 400Β° for 15 minutes.
Brush again with butter after removal.
Makes 2 dozen.
