Stir thoroughly the first 5 ingredients.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in center; add milk all at once.
Stir just until dough clings together.
Knead gently on lightly floured surface, 10 to 12 strokes.
Roll or pat to 1/2-inch thickness. Dip 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter in flour; cut dough straight down.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 450Β° for 10 to 12 minutes.
Brush with melted butter.
