Beef Casserole
Stew meat and onions braised with potatoes in cream of mushroom soup and sour cream, then crowned with a buttery cornflake-and-cheddar crust. Midwestern hot dish in earnest.

Brown meat and add water.
Heat to boiling, then simmer for 50 minutes.
Add onions the last 10 minutes.
Heat oven to 350Β°.
Pour meat in a 9 x 13-inch dish.
Arrange potatoes on top of meat.
Stir soup, sour cream, milk, salt and pepper together.
Pour over meat and potatoes.
Sprinkle with cheese and cereal.
Bake 1 hour.
