Beasley's Champion 1987 Apple Pie
Beasley'S Champion 1987 Apple Pie is an impressive dinner. Made with 4 c. plus 2 tbsp. unsifted flour, divided, 2 tbsp. plus 1 c. sugar, divided, 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. salt and 1 2/3 c. lard, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. In a large bowl, stir together 4 cups unsifted flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder and salt, mixing well.
Using a pastry blender, cut in lard until mixture is crumbly and particles are about the size of small peas.
Stir together egg, vinegar and 7 tablespoons ice water; mix well.
Pour egg mixture all at once into flour mixture.
Stir with a fork until it begins to clump together. Add remaining 1 tablespoon water, if needed, to make dough clump.
