Basil Bread
Basil Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. all-purpose flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 to 1 tsp. dried basil, crumbled (do not use fresh), 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 tsp. freshly ground pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Preheat oven to 450Β°.
Generously butter a 7 or 8 x 3-inch round pan; set aside.
Combine flour, baking soda, basil, salt and pepper in a large bowl of electric mixer fitted with a dough hook. Mix at medium speed several seconds just to blend.
Form a well in the center of the mixture; pour in melted butter.
With mixer at medium speed, slowly pour in buttermilk and blend, stopping once or twice to scrape down sides of bowl.
Continue mixing until dough comes away from the sides of the bowl and wraps around hook (about 10 minutes), Dough will be quite soft.
