Banana Nut Cake

Combine sugar, flour, soda, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.
Add shortening, bananas, eggs, buttermilk and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Stir in pecans.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan or two round cake pans. Bake at 325Β° for 25 minutes if in layers or 35 minutes if in a rectangular pan.
