Baked Tomatoes
Baked Tomatoes is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 14.5 oz. cans sliced or whole tomatoes, 5 slices white bread, 2 tbsp. grated onion, 1/4 c. brown sugar and 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Heat oven to 350.
Grease a 1 1/2 qt. casserole dish.
Drain the tomatoes and save the juice.
Mix tomatoes, torn bread slices, onion, sugar, red pepper, salt, and half of the melted butter. Add some reserved juice if the mixture looks dry.
Pour remaining butter over mixture and bake 30 - 40 minutes.
