In a large bowl, mix ham, bread and 1 cup of cheese.
(Mixture may be covered and refrigerated until the next day.)
In a medium-sized bowl, beat eggs with milk and nutmeg.
Pour over bread mixture and toss to mix.
Let stand 15 to 30 minutes.
Heat oven to 350Β°.
Use butter to grease an 8-inch square glass baking dish.
Turn bread mixture into prepared dish; sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese and the paprika.
Bake 55 to 60 minutes until cheese is melted and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
