Apple Pie

Made with 2 to 2 1/2 lb. or 6 to 7 c. apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced, 1 tbsp. lemon juice (optional), 1 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour and 1 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Combine apples in mixing bowl with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice and allspice.
Place in 9-inch pie pan lined with pastry.
Dot apple filling with butter.
Put on top pastry; trim and crimp the edge.
Cut 3 vents on top of pie crust.
Bake in a 450° oven for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350° and bake about 30 minutes more.
