Apple Bars
Apple Bars is an impressive dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. flour, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, 1 c. shortening and 1 egg yolk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Mix flour, sugar and salt and cut in shortening.
Mix like pie crust.
Put egg in measuring cup and fill to 2/3 cup with milk. Mix well.
Divide into 2 parts.
Rolls better if you chill for awhile.
Roll 1/2 of dough and put into a pan, 10 x 15-inch. Sprinkle Rice Krispies on dough.
Top with apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour and lemon juice.
Beat egg white and pour over crust with a pastry brush.
