1-2-3-4 Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. sifted flour, 3 tsp. baking powder, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1 c. shortening and 2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cream shortening with sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Add beaten egg yolks and beat thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients and milk alternately in small amounts beating well after each addition. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry and fold into batter. Pour into greased pans and bake in moderate oven at 350Β° about 30 minutes.
Makes three 9-inch layers.
