WHAT TYPES OF PROGRAMS DOES TSU OFFER?

1. TSU Independent Studies

Students may choose a course of studies in most fields in a country of their choice. Check with the Study Abroad Office for details.

2. TSU Departmental Study Abroad Programs

Eligible students enroll in TSU courses designed by faculty to be completed at a foreign site.
3. TSU Reciprocal Exchange Programs

Students pay TSU tuition and fees and trade places in the classroom with a foreign student from an overseas university.  Both credit and grades transfer back to TSU.

TSU has Reciprocal agreements with many institutions in Latin America.

4. TSU Affiliated Study Abroad Programs

Students are enrolled in a non-tuition-bearing registration while they attend a program designed specifically for study abroad students. Tuition is paid to the program.  Transfer credit is possible.

Through Affiliated programs TSU students have opportunities to study all over the world.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Program costs vary depending on the location and type of program. Some programs allow students to pay TSU tuition whereas others have set tuition fees paid to the third-party program. Cost information for Affiliated Programs may be found at program websites.

CAN I GET DEGREE CREDIT?

Always check with your academic advisor before participating in a study abroad program and receive his/her approval. You may receive credit for study abroad coursework successfully completed on TSU study abroad programs pending departmental approval. Students submit an Academic Advisement Form that formalizes their consultation with an academic advisor.

To receive credit for Independent Studies, students are required to bring back to TSU any syllabi, papers, tests and other relevant information so that the work completed may be evaluated in the credit-granting departments. The courses listed in your transcripts will be the assigned TSU equivalents with an indication of where the work was completed.

We cannot guarantee that students will receive credit for all the classes that they take overseas, nor can we guarantee that all the credit will apply to the student's degree plan. Students who meet with their advisors and research the classes offered abroad before they go will greatly increase their chances of successfully bringing back credit. For more information.
