TSU Affiliated Programs
Affiliated programs are programs run by organizations or university
divisions that specifically serve study abroad students. These
programs are often study centers affiliated with foreign universities
with curriculum developed after the US model, although many give
students the opportunity to take regular university courses at
the host university.
REQUIREMENTS for Affiliated Study Abroad Programs: Please
consult the study abroad checklist
for step-by-step instructions concerning TSU study abroad requirements.
ELIGIBILITY varies from program to program: Most programs
have a 2.5 GPA cut off for admission. Some require more advanced
language training whereas others do not. Please carefully read
the admission requirements for the program you choose.
APPLICATION: Students must apply and be admitted for
study abroad before applications are forwarded to the participating
program. Application for Study
Abroad.
REGISTRATION: Students are placed in Affiliated Study
Abroad hours at TSU (amount determined by full-time status requirements).
FEES AND TUITION: All fees and tuition are paid to the
Affiliated Program. No tuition is charged or paid at TSU. Students
should consult program materials and websites for itemized costs.
Students should be aware that published fees are often subject
to change. Students will also be responsible for budgeting for
any spending money and extra travel they intend to undertake.
FINANCIAL AID: Students remain eligible for most TSU
financial aid and scholarships as well as the International Study
Abroad Scholarship. For more information, see your financial Aid
Advisor or visit the pages on Financial
Aid and Scholarships.
CREDIT: Credit is evaluated for TSU course equivalencies
before being posted on the students record. The Study Abroad
Office cannot guarantee that the credit will transfer back or
that it will count towards a degree. Students are encouraged to
follow study abroad advisement procedures to assist in the return
of credit for reciprocal programs.
TSU students must first apply for Affiliated programs through
the Study Abroad Office. Applications are reviewed to assess academic
suitability, preparation, and maturity. Applications for specific
study programs are available in the Study Abroad Office. For
more information on the Credit Approval Process.
