Study Abroad Check List

I. Before Going

1. Choose a TSU Study Abroad Program

Students should discuss their options with a study abroad faculty or advisor before starting the application process.

2. Fill out a TSU application for Study Abroad through the Office of International Education (OIE).

Student participation is subject to university approval as determined by committee review

3. Submit to the OIE the application for the chosen program

Program-specific applications are available at the Office of International Education.
Copies of completed applications will be kept in the student's file in the Study Abroad Office.

4. Submit to the OIE a signed Academic Advisement Sheet

Students fill out this form with their academic advisors. For information concerning the possibility of transferring specific credit, students should contact academic advisors in the departments awarding similar credit at TSU.

This form does not constitute a pre-approval. Final approval on credit transfer is determined after materials have been presented for review upon completion of the program.

5. Apply for the International Study Abroad Fee Scholarship

Eligible students should apply for the TSU International Study Abroad Fee Scholarship to help fund their study abroad.

6. Submit the Study Abroad Emergency and Liability Packet

All students participating in TSU study abroad programs are required to complete the "Study Abroad Emergency and Liability" Packet before they can be placed in their study abroad registration.
The Study Abroad Emergency and Liability Packet must be submitted prior to the student's orientation session.

II. UPON RETURNING TO TSU
1. Attend an Exit Interview in the OIE

Upon return to TSU after a study abroad students must visit the OIE to complete an interview. The interview consists of the following:

  • discussion of the student's trip

  • the student is given a program evaluation to fill out

  • the credit approval process is once again explained to the student and the
  • appropriate forms are given to the student at that time.*


  • 2. Start the Credit Review Process

    It is the student's responsibility to ensure that the courses taken abroad are evaluated by TSU faculty in departments where similar courses are taught. For more information please review the credit process.
