Yeast Raised Donuts
Yeast Raised Donuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 pkg. yeast, 1/2 c. lukewarm water (about), 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. shortening and 1 tsp. nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Dissolve yeast in water and let stand for 20 minutes.
Cream sugar, shortening, nutmeg and salt.
Add eggs one at a time.
Add vanilla.
Sift flours and baking powder and add.
Add milk slowly. Do not make dough too soft.
Let set for 30 minutes.
Roll out and cut with a donut cutter.
Fry in deep fat at 350Β°.
Dip cooked donuts in Sugar Glaze.
