War Cake
War Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. brown sugar, 2 c. hot water, 2 tsp. shortening, 1/2 to 3/4 c. raisins and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
👨🍳 Instructions
Mix first 7 ingredients in a medium size sauce pan and bring to a boil; boil for 5 minutes.
Allow this mixture to cool until it is completely cold (mixture must be cold).
Stir in flour; mix well.
Dissolve baking soda in 2 tsp. hot water; add and mix well.
Pour into a greased tube pan.
Bake for 1 hour at 350° to 375°.
