Turtle Fudge
Turtle Fudge is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. sugar, 3/4 c. margarine, 1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk, 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces and 30 caramels, quartered, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine sugar, margarine and evaporated milk in heavy 2 1/2 to 3-quart saucepan; bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly.
Boil 5 minutes over medium heat or until thermometer reaches 234°, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.
Remove from heat.
Add chocolate pieces and stir until melted.
Add remaining ingredients and heat until well blended.
Pour into a 13 x 9-inch pan.
Cool at room temperature and cut into squares. Makes 3 1/2 pounds.
