Turnovers is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 c. flour, 1 pkg. dry yeast, 1 c. shortening, 1 c. oleo or butter and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Work flour, yeast, shortening, butter, salt and sugar as for pie dough until well blended.

Beat eggs and milk together; add to flour mixture.

Mix well.

Roll out thin and cut into 5-inch circles.

Fill with your favorite pie filling.

Fold in half and seal edges.

Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 350Β° for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.

(Can be rolled in sugar before baking.)

Roll in powdered sugar while warm or glaze with powdered sugar frosting while still warm.

Dough may be frozen.

Makes 35 to 40 turnovers.
