Tomato Dumplings
Tomato Dumplings is an moderately easy snack you can prepare in about 1 hour 18 minutes. Made with qt. tomatoes (fresh or canned), butter, sugar, evaporated milk and basil (optional), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Skin tomatoes if fresh.
Place in large skillet on top burner at medium heat.
Bring to a boil.
Add sugar to taste (some days I like less, sometimes more) approximately 1/2 to 3/4 cup.
Cook until it becomes thick and clear; add lump of butter, size of walnut (about 3 tablespoons).
Add dumplings and continue to cook until done.
Add seasonings (salt, pepper and basil).
Remove from fire and stir in a drizzle of evaporated milk (1/4 to 1/2 cup).
