Toffee Squares
Toffee Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, softened to room temperature, 1 c. brown sugar, 1 egg yolk, 2 tsp. vanilla and 1 7/8 c. all-purpose flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

In mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light-colored and fluffy.
Add egg yolk and vanilla.
Gradually beat in flour until smooth and blended.
(Dough will be thick.) Spread evenly on 14 x 16-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 15 minutes or until crust is golden brown and puffy.
Remove from oven.
Arrange unwrapped chocolate bars evenly over top of crust. Let stand 5 minutes to soften.
Spread chocolate evenly over crust. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Cool and cut into squares. Yield: 40 squares.
