Thumbprint Cookies
Thumbprint Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1 egg yolk, 1/2 tsp. vanilla and 1 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Mix shortening with next 3 ingredients.
Sift flour and salt and stir in shortening mixture.
Roll dough in 1-inch balls.
Beat egg white.
Dip balls into white.
Roll in pecans.
Place 1-inch apart on ungreased sheet.
Bake at 375Β° for 5 minutes.
Remove from oven; press thumb in top of each cookie.
Put decorations in thumbprint.
Bake 10 minutes longer.
