Sweet Pickles
Sweet Pickles is an moderately easy dinner. Made with cucumbers to fill gal. jar, 1/3 c. salt, boiling water, 1 qt. vinegar and 2 tsp. pickling spice, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Quarter cucumbers and place in gallon wide mouth jar; add salt, then cover with boiling water.
Let stand overnight.
Drain and rinse well.
Heat vinegar, pickling spice, celery and mustard seed, turmeric, alum and 1 cup of sugar.
When heated, pour over cucumbers.
Next A.M., add 1 cup of sugar and mix in jar.
Do this for a total of 4 days.
There will be 5 cups of sugar in all.
Do not heat after first day.
