Stuffed Mushroom Caps(Serves 8) is an easy dinner. Made with 3 doz. mushrooms, 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, 2 medium onions, chopped and 1/2 lb. sausage patty mix (mild to spicy, depending on taste), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Wash mushrooms, breaking stems out of caps.
Place caps on sided cookie sheet; discard stems.
Brown sausage and onions in frypan on medium heat.
Drain excess fat.
Add cream cheese and blend with onions and sausage.
Turn burner off and cool for 5 minutes.
Scoop into mushroom caps.
Heat oven to a broil.
Place cookie sheet on next to top rack.
They are cooked when rim of mushroom caps are browned, usually 5 to 10 minutes.
Serve hot. Can be made ahead and refrigerated.
Only the stuffing can be frozen! Men can't resist these!
