Stuffed Cabbage
Stuffed Cabbage is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 large cabbage, 3/4 lb. ground beef, 1/2 c. rice (uncooked), 1 garlic clove, chopped and 1/4 tsp. pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
Separate cabbage leaves and blanch in boiling water until limp.
Remove and drain.
Cut into large leaves, removing tough vein.
Mix together ground beef, rice, salt, pepper, onion, cinnamon and basil.
For each roll, use an amount about the size of a finger.
Squeeze together and place on leaf.
Fold in tips of leaf and roll.
Put in heavy pot and arrange in layers.
Add tomatoes, water to cover, 1 chopped clove garlic and sliced lemon, arranging on top of rolls.
Put a plate on top of cabbage rolls to anchor them.
Cook slowly for about 1 hour.
