Stewed Tomatoes is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 qt. peeled, cooked tomatoes, 1 c. brown sugar, 1/2 stick butter, 2 tbsp. cornstarch and 2 slices bread, diced and buttered, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Cook tomatoes and juice, brown sugar, butter, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil; thicken with cornstarch (dissolved in 1/4 cup water).
Bake in shallow baking pan with foil cover about 20 minutes at 350Β°.
Remove foil.
Add crumbs and cheese.
Return to oven to melt cheese.
