Made with 2 c. brown sugar, 4 eggs (save 2 whites for topping), 3/4 c. shortening, 1 tsp. each cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg and 1 c. sour milk with 1 tsp. soda added to milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Mix all together.
Pour batter in a 9 x 12-inch baking dish. Spread the beaten egg whites to which was added 1 cup brown sugar. Sprinkle 1 cup chopped nuts on top. Bake for 1 hour at 300Β°.
