Cream butter, Crisco and sugar well.
Add eggs, one at the time, beating one minute after each addition.
Add vanilla, then add flour (that has been mixed with baking powder and salt) and milk alternately, beginning and ending with flour.
Put into three 9-inch greased cake pans and bake about 30 minutes at 350Β°.
