Sift flour once, measure, add soda and salt and sift together 3 times.
Cream butter and sugar thoroughly; then chocolate, vanilla and egg; blend well.
Add flour and milk in small amounts and beat until smooth after each addition.
Bake in 2 greased 9-inch layer pans in moderate oven at 350Β° for 30 minutes or until done.
Spread with Deluxe Icing.
