Sopaipillas
Sopaipillas is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. yeast (1 tbsp.), 1/4 c. water (100~), 3/4 c. scalded milk, 6 tbsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Soften yeast in warm water (100Β°).
Combine milk, sugar and shortening; add salt.
Cool to lukewarm and add yeast and egg. Gradually stir in flour; mix until smooth.
Let rise until double in bulk, about 1 1/2 hours.
Roll on floured surface until very thin.
Cut into shapes with a knife and deep fry in fat* until golden brown.
Roll in sugar and cinnamon or powdered sugar.
