Cream sugar and shortening.
Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together.
Add eggs to sugar and shortening mixture.
Add vanilla.
Add dry ingredients and milk.
Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 375Β° for 10 to 12 minutes.
Sprinkle with sugar or spread with vanilla icing.
Top with chopped nuts.
