Snowflake Square

Cream shortening. Add sugar slowly while creaming mix.

Sift flour, baking powder and salt.

Combine milk and almond extract. Add flour and milk alternately to creamed mixture.

Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry. Fold in. Pour into 10-inch square shallow cake pan. Bake in moderate oven at 375° for 30 minutes. Cool.

Frost as desired. Cut into squares.
