Scott's Squares
Scott'S Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. shortening, 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. white sugar, 2 tbsp. water and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Cream together the first 5 ingredients plus the egg yolks. Sift together the flour, soda and salt.
Combine the dry ingredients and the creamed mixture and mix until it resembles cookie dough.
Wet your fingers and spread mixture into a 10 x 15-inch glass dish.
Whip the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff.
Add the brown sugar.
Spread over the top of dough. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
Bake until brown.
Let cool and cut into 24 squares.
