Scotch Oat Bars
Scotch Oat Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. oleo, 1 c. packed brown sugar, 2 c. quick oats, 1 tsp. baking powder and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Butter an 8-inch greased pan.
In medium-sized saucepan, combine oleo and sugar.
Heat while stirring, until oleo melts.
Stir in oats, baking powder, vanilla and salt.
Blend thoroughly.
Turn into pan.
Spread evenly over bottom of pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until edges are lightly brown.
Remove from oven.
Let cool about 3 minutes.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
When melted, spread evenly over top.
Cool. Cut into bars.
Makes 28 (1 x 2-inch) squares.
