Savory Red Cabbage
Savory Red Cabbage is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 head red cabbage, 1 c. finely chopped onions, 2 large apples, peeled and chopped, 1/4 c. red wine vinegar and 6 tbsp. light brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
In large kettle, saute onion in butter until soft.
Add cabbage; cook over low heat, stirring often, for 10 minutes.
Add the apples, wine, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper; mix well. Cover kettle; lower heat and simmer for 1 hour, stirring several times.
Uncover kettle; raise heat.
Cook until all liquid is absorbed.
Pour into large serving bowl.
Makes 8 servings.
