Slice bread in quarters.
Butter and place buttered side down in 8 x 12 x 2 casserole.
Brown sausage; crumble and drain. Scatter over bread.

Add cheese and mushrooms and pour over bread.
Let stand overnight in refrigerator.
Remove one hour before baking.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
