Sausage Biscuits
Sausage Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 lb. hot bulk pork sausage, 2 2/3 c. flour, 2 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. baking soda, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Cook sausage in a skillet until browned; drain and set aside. Combine next 5 ingredients, mixing well. Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse meal. Dissolve yeast in warm water (105° to 115°).
Let stand 5 minutes. Add yeast to buttermilk, stirring. Add to dry ingredients, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
Knead in sausage. Turn dough out onto a floured surface.
Knead lightly. Roll out dough and cut into rounds.
Bake at 425° for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
