Santa's Thumbprints
Santa'S Thumbprints is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. butter flavored crisco, 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed, 1 egg, 1 tbsp. vanilla and 2 1/2 c. quick oats (uncooked), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Beat Crisco and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
Add combined oats, flour and salt.
Mix well.
Form 1 inch balls and roll in nuts.
Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press centers with thumb and fill with preserves.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool completely.
Yields 4 1/2 dozen.
