Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.

Rub in shortening as lightly as possible with fingers, just working until the fat is blended with flour.

Then mix a very soft dough with liquids (keeping liquid as cold as possible).

Mix with pastry blender or knife rather than spoon or hand, as blades or knife edge is colder and also because it cuts and mixes the dough more thoroughly.

Turn the dough onto a well floured board and roll or pat with hand until about 3/4-inch thick.

Cut into biscuit and lay them not touching on a baking pan.

Bake in quick (about 400Β°) oven 12 to 14 minutes.
