Romantic Torte(Cake)
Romantic Torte(Cake) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 lb. hershey's kisses or bars, 1 c. chopped nuts, 1 c. hot water, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1 small pkg. dates, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Pour hot water over baking soda and dates; cool and set aside. Cream shortening.
Add sugar, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Alternate flour and date mixture into the batter; mix well.
Place 2/3 of batter in Bundt pan; sprinkle with 1/2 of the nuts and Kisses (or bars, broken up).
Pour the rest of the batter on top; top with remaining nuts and Kisses.
Bake for 1 hour, or until brown.
