Mix food coloring with cocoa.
Let stand.
Cream Crisco with sugar; add eggs.
Add colored paste.
Beat well.
Add buttermilk, cake flour (sifted), salt, vinegar and soda.
Mix in by hand. Bake at 350Β° for 30 to 35 minutes.
Makes 2 layers.
