Cream Crisco, sugar and eggs.
Make a paste of the food coloring and cocoa; add to the first mixture.
Add salt, flour, buttermilk and vanilla; mix well.
Mix in, but do not beat, the vinegar and soda.
Bake in 2 (9-inch) or 3 (8-inch) pans at 350Β° for 30 to 40 minutes.
